The Investigations Unit acts as the detective bureau of the Greensboro Police Department, investigating all reports of criminal activity with unidentified perpetrators,
whether misdemeanor or felony. The Detectives are highly trained and specialized in various facets of criminal investigations, including, but not limited to:

Under the command of Major Paul McGann Sr, detectives of the Investigations Unit work closely with the Road Officers
to solve and prevent crime, and provide crime prevention education to the public. The Greensboro Police Department participates in investigative
task forces focused on sharing resources of various local and federal law enforcement agencies collaborating towards common investigative goals.
